Magic and range are two skills that get highly ignored in custom servers, and the reason for that is basically after getting the 99 (in this case 130) - there's no reason to use it (Except for pk.. maybe).
You can't get a magic staff, or a bow and arrow, that will hit 100+. But you can get a sword that will hit 150+.
You have no diminishing supply when using melee - As compared to ranged you have to buy bolts or arrows, and magic you must buy runes (oh so many runes).
Melee items are dropped all over the place - I haven't even got a "Staff" drop. And the only ranged weapon I got that wasn't in the starter came from a drop party.
Not only that, but also the armor dropped is tailored for melee. Ever get a custom armadyl set as a drop? Didn't think so. How about a custom Infinity set? No? why not?
I think to add some balance to the classes (Melee, Range, Mage), that there should be some rework to the drops to include magic and range related stuff. OR - and hear me out here - Remove the arrow and rune requirements.. If that doesn't fit your forte, how about some customs that don't require them? After all, it is a custom server, so why not?

Support, for unique custom items for range and magic. As for range, crystal bow doesn't require any ammo. Will look forward to some magic and range based items, nice suggestion mate.

The only zone I've added for range\mage armor is the tribesman, which drop armor that give pretty decent ranged + magic bonuses. There are three bows, Ghostly, bow of flames and dragon bow (Bow of flames and Dragon bow are obtainable in game). The only reason I haven't added more ranged based zones\npcs\items is because the ranged system doesn't work the way it should. No matter what ranged bonus you have, you'll still end up hitting 20's. It was on my list to try and fix, however i spent a lot of time looking at the code and couldn't really figure it out.
As for magic specifically, you're right about not getting any staff drops. I believe the only one I've added was the armadyl staff, and that was to the dzone. I could definitely implement more customs tailored for magic and range though by the next client release. Hopefully I can get the range coding to work as well.

Hopefully I can get the range coding to work as well. Afaik, the system actually ignores the ranged and magic bonus (They are not used). And bases everything on stats and stats alone. What you could do is find where it calculates the max hit and then apply the weapons magic (or ranged) bonus to them.
